TO OBTAIN THE SPECIFIC GRAVITY UN# FOR A DRUM:
TAKE THE WEIGHT OF THE PRODUCT (PER LB) DIVIDE BY THE WEIGHT OF WATER (8.33)
EXAMPLE: IF YOUR PRODUCT WEIGHS 11 LBS PER GALLON DIVIDE THIS NUMBER BY 8.33 WHICH GIVE YOU A SPECIFIC GRAVITY RATING OF---1.320 YOU THEN HAVE TO ROUND THIS TO THE NEXT INCREMENT FOR TEST PURPOSE OF 1.4 THE DRUM IS THEN RATED AT UN/Y/1.4/
TO OBTAIN THE KPA RATING
THE LAST NUMBER IS THE KPA (kilopascals) RATING WHICH IS THE MAXIMUM INTERNAL PRESSURE THE DRUM IS TESTED AND RATED.
THE MAXIMUM INTERNAL PRESSURE GENERATED BY YOUR PRODUCT IN
LBS PER SQUARE INCH x 6.895 WILL GIVE YOU THE RATING IN KILOPASCALS.
EXAMPLE: YOUR PRODUCT GENERATES 15 LBS PER SQUARE INCH OF INTERNAL WHEN PACKAGED…MULTIPLY 15 x 6.895 WHICH WILL GIVE YOU A KPA RATING OF 103.5
WE THEN ONCE AGAIN ROUND THIS THE NEXT INCREMENT OF TESTING WHICH WOULD BE 125KPA.
THE RATING OF YOUR DRUM IS NOW ……..UN1A2/Y/1.4/125
